NYSSAPS 2013 — Directions

How to Reach Wells College in Aurora, NY

Wells College sits in Aurora, New York, within the Finger Lakes region. Two campus entrances serve visitors, and both are identified by maroon signs. The routes below describe the primary ways in from the New York State Thruway (I-90), Route 17 / I-86, and I-81.

Driving directions to Wells College: the campus has two entrances, each marked with maroon signs (shown as yellow stars on the map). The more northerly entrance is the better choice: head east off Route 90 and climb the hill, following the road until it forks to the right onto flatter ground. Pass through the small dip and bear left, climbing again, until the road flattens out. Then turn left up the hill into the Woods Lot (a bit farther up, marked “V” on the map). Stratton Hall stands just southwest of the lot entrance — a modern brick building you enter on its top level. The New York State Thruway (Interstate Route 90) lies 25 miles north. Route 17 (the Southern Tier Expressway and future I-86) is roughly 50 miles south. Route I-81 is 30 miles east. From the New York State Thruway heading West: leave at Weedsport (#40); turn right onto Route 34 south to Auburn; turn right onto Routes 5 & 20 west, then left onto Route 326 to the village of Union Springs; turn left on local Route 90 to Aurora. From the New York State Thruway heading East: leave at Waterloo (#41); turn right at the tollbooth and then left onto Route 318. Turn left onto Routes 5 & 20 east; then right onto local Route 90 through Cayuga and Union Springs to Aurora. From Route 17 / Interstate 86 heading West: take I-81 to the Homer exit (#12); turn right at the end of the ramp onto Route 281 north; turn left onto Route 90 (soon after joining Route 281); follow local 90 to Aurora (about 40 miles). From Route 17 / Interstate 86 heading East: exit at Route 13 (#54) north to Ithaca; leave Route 13 onto Route 34 north to Lansing; turn left onto Route 34B; turn left again onto Route 90 in King Ferry; continue nine miles to Aurora.
